NSNotificationCenter Class For ActionScript 3.0

Here is a class that we have found very useful when building Flash projects.  The idea comes from Cocoa's NSNotificationCenter which is a great class used to send events in Mac and iPhone apps.  Our class is named "EventNotificationCenter".  Sorry for the long names, I got use to X-Code auto guessing as I type. Flash on TV?! Yes, please.

Read more here about how Adobe and Intel are working together to optimize a new processor for Flash content on Blue-ray players, cable boxes, digital TVs, and other gizmos with screens.

“The Open Screen Project is striving to remove barriers for developers and designers as they look to publish content and applications across desktops and devices” said David Wadhwani, general manager and vice president, Platform Business Unit at Adobe.

Wall-E game is Disney’s first use of Papervision

Our first official use of Papervision was for a game for the wildly successful movie “Wall-E”. Wall-E, the spaceship and the other objects in the game were modelled and textured in Maya. Integrating the Maya elements with PP took some experimentation, but once we had established a work flow, things went smoothly. There were several performance challenges, and the avatar dev team was in communication with the PP creator. In the end we had to make some compromises (as all games inevitably must), but the client and our team were both very happy.
